MTF Counsel at the Regional Tax and Trade Forum in Singapore
Our Partner, Atty. Mark Anthony P. Tamayo, recently took part in the Regional Tax and Trade Forum held at the Tax Academy of Singapore on September 16–17, 2026. This is a two-part seminar series which discussed the following:
- Tax Showcase (September 16): BEPS 2.0 and the 15% Minimum Tax, Side-by-Side Arrangement and Treaty Access, Rewritten CIT, VAT and Incentive Regimes, Indirect Transfers and PE Risk, Audit Focus and AI-Assisted Enforcement, and Transfer Pricing Controversy.
- Trade Showcase (September 16): Tariff Exposure and Trade Remedies, Rules of Origin and Transhipment Controls, Reciprocal Trade Arrangements, Export Controls and Sanctions, AI Sovereignty and Economic Security, and Post-Clearance Audits and Penalty Exposure.
Jointly organized by Taxise Asia LLC (WTS Taxise), the Singapore Tax Academy (Tax Component), and the Singapore Business Federation (Trade Component), the event gathered top tax and trade experts across Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
Atty. Tamayo represented the Philippines as an invited speaker during the seminar, titled “Tax and Trade Strategies for Cross-Border Business.” He shared strategic perspectives on Philippine tax and regulatory developments, highlighting their practical implications for cross-border operations across Southeast Asia, the Asia -Pacific region, and major trading partners such as the US and China.
The forum addressed critical issues shaping regional business, including international tax policies, global minimum tax mechanisms (Qualified Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax or “QDMTT”, Income Inclusion Rule or “IIR”, and Undertaxed Profits Rule or “UTPR”), transfer pricing, cross-border transactions, customs and international trade, tariff structures, export controls, and supply chain compliance, concluding with an insightful Q&A segment.
Alongside the forum, the participating regional experts held high-level meetings with top Singapore-based banks to discuss emerging cross-border finance trends, regulatory compliance, and tax-efficient wealth and investment strategies.
MTF Counsel remains committed to contributing to regional tax and trade dialogues and supporting clients through evolving cross-border regulatory landscapes.
